What makes Cape Town Safaris different?
A few reasons to Book with Jenman Safaris:
“We would like to share what we’ve discovered and be involved in the renaissance of the region. We’re committed to creating outstanding experiences of Southern and East Africa for our clients” (Garth Jenman)
“I founded Jenman African Safaris in 1993 with one vehicle, guiding walking safaris in the lower Zambezi, Mana Pools. Since then Jenman Safaris has expanded into 14 African countries, we have employed many more staff, and today most of our partners know me personally around the globe.
Travel in Africa has always been a passion of mine, and fortunately my personal interest and work life are combined. Nevertheless, my team and I never forget that we are arranging your holiday – often a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you have looked forward to, for years in some cases. Hence our company slogan is; Africa: Your Adventure, Our Expertise.
Every season the positive feedback from our clients and agents around the world overwhelms me and motivates all of us at Jenman Safaris to carry on, setting our quality standards higher each year. Today, we not only offer affordable solutions for your once-in-a-lifetime Africa experience, but operate lodge safaris, custom-made honey-moon packages and most other travel related arrangements in Southern Africa, East Africa & Madagascar.”
I look forward to many more years of welcoming you on an African experience you will never forget.

I fell in love with Africa from the minute I plonked 2 feet on her soil – coming from London, what could be more different! 5 years on & I have travelled intensely through 23 of her 54 countries, enjoying the glorious red earth of Kenya, the turquoise seas in Zanzibar & diving with the colourful fish in Egypt. I’ve driven from London to Cape Town through North; West & Central Africa over 8 months and Africa’s hold just gets stronger. Cape Town has become my new home where I am exploring the joys of South Africa’s weekend getaways. I adore Africa and take every opportunity to help others experience her unrivalled wonders!
MA Applied Cultural Anthropology (Tourism and Sustainable Development)
Having traveled abroad to more than 40 countries recreationally and through my studies, Africa was calling me. I arrived in Cape Town, South Africa in May of 1999 and proceeded to fall in love with the wonders of the Western Cape and the countries of Southern Africa. After 2 months of fun and exploration shark cage diving in Gansbaai, overlanding on safaris to Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe and touring the winelands surrounding Cape Town, I grew roots - too enamored to leave. Putting my background, expertise in tourism and passion for the region to use, I began the Cape Scene Magazine, which I owned and operated for more than 5 years from Cape Town until selling the business and returning to the states at the end of 2004. My love of Africa and Cape Town has never left me and now thousands of miles away, I’ve revisited my calling, now dedicated to helping others’ discover the beauty of this part of the world as the North American Africa Sales Consultant for Jenman Safaris. Africa in general, and Southern Africa in particular, should be on everyone’s bucket list. You truly have not lived until you discover the genetic memory we all possess that emerges when you experience the cradle of humanity.

Africa has now hit the NO.1 spot on my bucket list!

Favourite African Destination: Between Malawi and Mozambique…
I have worked for Jenman African Safaris since its inception in the early 1990's. I am originally from Zimbabwe, but have lived in South Africa for many years. My principal duty at Jenman African Safaris is to take care of all the equipment used on our safaris. Before each tour starts, I prepare the vehicle and equipment and make sure that everything is in order before our guides go on safari. Making sure our guiding teams have the right equipment on safari is what is important to me.

B.Sc Hons Environmental Management (UCT), including sustainable tourism, FGASA accredited field guide, trained in the real world of travel by experience
I started exploring Africa with my family from a young age, and most of our family holidays were adventurous camping & 4x4 trips discovering the hidden gems of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique and Lesotho. As a student studying environmental management, I was already working in the tourism industry, doing volunteer guiding at the Two Oceans Aquarium, working as a part time river guide, and as a deck hand on a yacht doing tourist cruises. After a short stint working in environmental education, followed by a backpacking trip in South America, I learnt one thing about myself – I live for travel, whether my own or that of others. One thing led to another and I ended up doing my field guide (safari guide) certificate, and guiding overland safaris into Botswana. I also worked for a while as a safari guide at a small private game reserve near Kruger. Somewhere along the line I shared my home with a volunteer worker from Madagascar, and he helped cement a desire in me to explore that island of incredible culture, friendly people, crazy wildlife and beautiful beaches & coral reefs. My recent travels there have only increased my desire to share the amazing places of this world with others.
Public Relations, Tourism, Marketing and Sales
I have worked in this industry for over 18 years. I have spent many weeks convincing the world thatAfricais a destination like no other and bringing many tourists across. Having spent much time with both journalists and agents visiting all the lodges and hotels, I have a thorough knowledge of what all we have offer.

Bth Theology, Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management
Cape Town is my home, it's where I was born and it's where I'm still continually blown away by its beauty. After completing my studies in theology I worked in pastoral ministry where I looked after an incredible group of teens. My fascination with people never stopped, so I studied marketing to develop skills in understanding how they ticked. After getting my qualification and working for three years in the marketing world, I'm still only a quarter of the way in knowing people. But with that little knowledge, I hope to provide an online world that Jenman customers love.
Travel & Tourism Management Diploma
After my studies I worked for a small backpackers and tour operator in Pretoria, where I had hands on experience with tourists and found my passion for people. Seeking growth opportunities I was given the opportunity to work in a more corporate industry where I worked as a conference coordinator, and became the HOD of the Reservations department. I have now embarked in a great adventure with Jenman Safaris in Cape Town and I am so excited to work in the Tourism Industry again. I am looking forward to all the challenges that Jenman has to offer.

I studied politics, history and the humanities and worked at the International Office of Stellenbosch University, before trying my hand in the hospitality industry managing a charming Victorian guest house. After the World Cup, I went over landing in Southern and East Africa ending up in Zanzibar with the “bubble-gum blue tide” as my office view for a couple months... Following two years of project & development work and marketing, the opportunity to join Jenman as a product developer arose enabling me to combine my somewhat dissimilar interests!

My passion for travel started in 2007 when I decided to backpack through Australia for 11 months… When I was studying in the Netherlands for my degree I had the opportunity to study Wildlife & Lodge Management in South Africa and completely fell in love with the country! When I had to leave South Africa I was devastated and therefore decided that as soon as my studies were completed I would return! In August 2012 I joined the Jenman Family and also had the chance to join one of the Jenman tours from Swakopmund to Victoria Falls which allowed me to explore Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe!
